About Dr. Assaf Dotan
ד"ר אסף דותן נולד, גדל והתחנך בעיר רחובות. בוגר בתי הספר בכור לוי ודה-שליט.
ב-1995 התגייס לצה"ל ושירת כלוחם ביחידה מובחרת. ד"ר אסף דותן הינו סרן במיל. ומתפקד כקצין רפואה של יחידה מובחרת. במהלך שירות מילואים קרבי השתתף במלחמת לבנון השנייה ובמבצע צוק איתן. לאחר מבצע צוק איתן קיבלה יחידתו את אות הצטיינות נשיא המדינה על פעילותה יוצאת הדופן במערכה.
בשנת 2005 סיים ד"ר דותן את לימודי הרפואה בהצטיינות באוניברסיטת Semmelweis בודפשט, הונגריה.
ד"ר דותן סיים את שנת הסטאז' בהצטיינות במרכז הרפואי שיבא ובין השנים 2009-2014 התמחה ברפואת עיניים במרכז רפואי רבין.
בין השנים 2014-2015 שימש רופא בכיר ומנתח במרכז רפואי רבין.
משנת 2016 עד 2017 ביצע התמחות על במחלות וניתוחי רשתית באוניברסיטת אלברטה, אדמונטון, קנדה.
במהלך שהותו בקנדה התמקצע בניתוחי רשתית מסובכים, פציעות טראומה והשתלת עדשות יחודיות ללובן העין.
ד"ר אסף דותן הינו מומחה למחלות וניתוחי רשתית ועובד כרופא בכיר ומנתח ביחידת הרשתית במרכז הרפואי רבין ובעל מינוי אקדמי של מרצה בפקולטה לרפואה ע"ש סאקלר, אוניברסיטת ת"א.
בנוסף לעבודתו הקלינית במרכז רפואי רבין, ד"ר דותן מעורב בתוכנית ההכשרה האקדמית והכירורגית של המתמחים במחלקת עיניים בבילינסון.
מרצה לסטודנטים לרפואה בסבבים הקליניים ובלימודי המשך בפקולטה לרפואה ע"ש סאקלר, אוניברסיטת ת"א.
Dr. Assaf Dotan was born in Rehovot, where he spent most of his childhood and adult life.
In 1995 he was drafted to IDF and served as a combat soldier.
Since then, he has been climbing through the ranks and now he serves as a captain in IDF reserve forces.
Dr. Dotan studied at the medical school of Semmelweis University, in Budapest, Hungary, from where he graduated cum laude. He did his internship at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer, which he finished with excellence.
He completed his residency period in Ophthalmology in 2014 at the Rabin Medical Center in Petah-Tiqva, which was followed by a vitreo-retinal fellowship at the University of Alberta, in Edmonton, Canada.
During his fellowship he was involved in hundreds of vitreoretinal surgeries - retinal detachments, full thickness macular holes, epiretinal membranes and retinal diabetes mellitus complications.
In addition, he was involved in implantations of scleral fixation IOLs and Bausch & Lomb AKREOS lens.
Currently, Dr. Assaf Dotan is a senior vitreo-retinal surgeon at the Ophthalmology department in the Rabin Medical Center and holds an academic position of a lecturer at the sackler faculty of medicine, Tel-Aviv university.
Being a senior staff doctor he is also much involved in the education of the medical students and residents and does clinical and basic research in addition to his clinical duties.
